OAKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 52-year-old Belding woman remains in serious condition after driving into a tree early Saturday morning.

Kent County deputies responded to a vehicle crash around 12:24am at Lincoln Lake and 12 Mile Road.

Deputies say the driver, Sherri Thuston, was driving southbound in a 2005 PT Cruiser when she drove off the road and hit a tree.

Thuston was extricated from the Cruiser and was flown to a local hospital by Aeromed with serious injuries.

Deputies don’t know if she was wearing a seat belt, but don’t believe alcohol was a factor.

The accident remains under investigation.
