PAW PAW, Mich. — A 44-year-old man delivering newspapers is arrested for driving drunk, five and a half times over the legal limit, Thursday afternoon.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department reports a deputy was at the scene of a crash near the intersection of Paw Paw Road and 38th street when he saw a vehicle drive through the scene.
The deputy stopped the 44-year-old driver and found out that he was under the influence of alcohol. Multiple open beer cans were found inside the vehicle.
According to a release, the driver was more than five and a half times the legal limit for drunk driving and was arrested. The legal limit for Michigan is .08 blood/alcohol content.
Deputies also discovered that the driver had been arrested and convicted three times previously for drunk driving.
The man is currently being held at the Van Buren County jail.
