GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A Muskegon man will spend 20 years in federal prison for distributing child pornography over the internet.

Adam James Fitzpatrick, 26, was sentenced last week after pleading guilty in September 2015 to distributing the porn.  Fitzpatrick will also have 10 years of supervised released after he serves his prison time and will be required to register as a sex offender.

The investigation into Fitzpatrick began in early 2015, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Grand Rapids. The FBI executed a search warrant on Fitzpatrick’s residence on August 5, 2015 and seized his computer.  Investigators found thousands of images and videos, including what the U.S. Attorney’s Office describes as “hard-core, graphic material, such as images and videos of prepubescent children, to include infants and toddlers, being raped and tortured.”  Investigators also found that Fitzpatrick had access to children and would try to convince other adults to abuse their children for him.

Judge Paul L. Maloney said in his sentencing that this was the worst child pornography case he had seen.
