BATTLE CREEK, Mich.  – A Kalamazoo man was arrested this week for soliciting a child for immoral purposes.

David Weirick, 56, was charged in 10th District Court in Battle Creek according to the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit.  He was also charged with using a computer to commit child sexually abusive activity.

Weirick faces up to ten years in prison if convicted.

Investigators say that Weirick was arrested Tuesday when he allegedly showed up in Battle Creek for a pre-arranged sexual encounter with an undercover detective.

The MSP Computer Crimes Unit investigated the case with the Michigan Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force and the MSP Fifth District Fugitive Team.
