COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a man who allegedly broke into a Columbia Township home Tuesday afternoon.
The incident happened at about 12:20 p.m. at a home in the 12000 block of 56th Street. Police say the homeowner left for a brief time and returned to discover that the residence had been broken into and several items were missing. Officials estimate the stolen items to be worth about $2,000.
Witnesses saw someone flee the area of the home and drive off in a tan SUV, according to a release from the sheriff’s department. The suspect is described by police as an average-sized man between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall. He was dressed all in black at the time of the incident, officials said in a release.
