BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A gas station clerk is recovering from injuries, after a man armed with a hammer attacked them and robbed the station early Monday morning.
It happened at around 3:30 a.m. at the Citgo station on Capital Ave NE in Battle Creek. Police say a man with a scarf around his face walked in, attacked the attendant with a claw hammer, and robbed the station. The victim was able to escape and hail a passing cab to call for help.
By the time officers arrived, the suspect was nowhere to be seen. Police attempted to track with a K-9 unit, but nothing turned up.
The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
