GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -Kent County will be getting a new Circuit Court Judge and the staffing that will go with him or her.
The new judge will be elected in the November 2016 election. According to the Kent County Administrator’s Office, there will be another judge elected in November 2016 to replace Judge George Buth who is retiring.
The Kent County Board of Commissioners voted to add the judgeship Thursday morning. The State Court Administrator’s Office had recommended a judge be added to Kent County based on caseloads, processing time and other data.
Two Circuit Court Clerks, two Corrections Officers and one Assistant Prosecuting Attorney will also be added, as will an upgrade to the role of a clerk in the Prosecutor’s Office.
