ZEELAND TWP., Mich. — Eight people are recovering at area hospitals following a traffic crash Saturday night.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department tells us that six adults and two children were injured when their minivan ran a stop sign on 88th Avenue at New Holland Street just after 6:15 p.m. Saturday night.

After going through the intersection, the vehicle left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch on the south side of the intersection.  Authorities on scene believe that heavy fog on the roadway contributed to the crash.

Their names are not being released at this time.   As of early Sunday morning, all of the 8 occupants were reportedly in stable condition.

The group was traveling south bound on 88th Avenue in their 1998 Oldsmobile minivan at the time of the crash.  There were no other vehicles involved.

The incident remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriffs Department.
