GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - A beloved playground piece in Grand Rapids' Ah-Nab-Awen Park will be getting a much-needed make-over.

Lorrie's Button has been in the park since 1976. The piece was designed by Hy Zelkowitz and won a playground sculpture competition that year.

It is a huge, red button made of fiberglass and urethane foam and years of wear and tear have made the sculpture dangerous for kids to play on.

The Downtown Development Authority discussed renovations Wednesday at their regular meeting. Repair and restoration of the button is expected to cost about $5,000.
