Allegan County man sentenced to prison time for killing half brother

TROWBRIDGE TWP, Mich. — On Monday, a man accused and convicted of killing his half brother learned how long he will spend in prison.

According to Allegan County Undersheriff Frank Baker, Malcolm Dotson will spend between 21 to 32 years in prison for the murder of  Damon Sheldon in April 2015.

Baker also confirmed Dotson confessed to shooting Sheldon in the head with a rifle before burying him on the property they shared.

Dotson earlier confessed to killing Sheldon and burying him in a shallow grave in their back yard.  The fatal shooting happened in the 1100 block of 26th Street in Trowbridge Township.
