DETROIT, Mich. — Eight years after being dealt from the Detroit Tigers in the Miguel Cabrera trade with the then-Florida Marlins, Cameron Maybin is returning to the Motor City.

The Tigers re-acquired their 2005 first round draft pick from the Atlanta Braves on Friday in exchange for left-handed pitchers Ian Krol and Gabe Speier.

Maybin hit .267 with 30 extra base hits, 58 RBI, and 23 stolen bases in 2015 with the Braves. As a member of the 2006 Midwest League champion West Michigan Whitecaps, he hit .304 with nine home runs and 27 stolen bases.

Speier spent the 2015 season with the Whitecaps after being acquired by the Tigers from the Boston Red Sox. He went 4-2 in 44 innings pitched with a 2.86 ERA and struck out 33 batters.
