Police investigate possible drug use at abandoned house in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Charges are likely to be filed against two people after police discover squatters in a vacant house this week.

It happened in the 800 block of Woodbury in the Kalamazoo area.

On Wednesday, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety said the city housing inspectors along with officers from the community policing unit were called out to investigate a condemned home. According to a press release issued late Wednesday, two people were found hiding on the property and police said there was evidence of the duo living inside. Authorities also deemed the house unsafe for living conditions.

A month prior to the  current investigation, authorities issued a warrant and found 2 loaded handguns, ammunition and cocaine inside.

As for the latest developments, trespassing charges are suspected against the two Kalamazoo residents.
