Family of Cedar Springs native killed in Oklahoma finally able to bring her home

KENTWOOD, Mich.--A West Michigan family raising money to lay their loved one to rest in Grand Rapids will finally be able to say their proper goodbyes.

FOX 17 first brought you this story Sunday night. Cedar Springs native, Becky Sisk, 26, was shot and killed November 8 in her Oklahoma home in what police are calling a domestic dispute. At the time, Sisk's family and friends still needed about $1,600 to pay for the transportation to get Becky home and other funeral costs.

Humberto Diaz, her husband,  is now behind bars, charged with murder.

Wednesday afternoon, friends thanked FOX 17 for the story that aired Sunday, because now they're getting a chance for a proper goodbye after raising over $1,700 through a GoFundMe page.

"Sherri and I were seriously ready Sunday to just drop what we were doing and jump in a car and go to Oklahoma. We thought maybe that was the only way we'd be able to say goodbye," said Sisk's best friend Audreanna Martinez.

Sisk's funeral will be held at the Arsulowicz Brothers Mortuaries and Funeral Home on Michigan Street this Nov. 21 at 1 p.m.

"I had a feeling a lot of the community would be there and people would donate, because Becky knew a lot of people. I was surprised how much it jumped once FOX 17 aired it," Martinez said.
