Man charged in Battle Creek store shooting

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A man is facing charges after allegedly shooting a 33-year-old employee at M&S Food Market Sunday.

Markesse Irby, 21, is arraigned on charges of armed robbery, assault with intent to murder, receiving and concealing a firearm and three counts of felony firearm, according to Calhoun County District Court officials.  He is currently being held on a $750,000 bond.

Irby allegedly shot the employee in the head Sunday morning.   He is in the hospital in critical but stable condition, according to Battle Creek Police.

Irby’s next court date is Nov. 25 at 10 a.m.
