Plane approaching Ludington reports laser incident

LUDINGTON, Mich. – The Mason County Sheriff’s office is investigating an incident where a pilot reported having a laser pointed into his cockpit.

The incident happened Wednesday evening at about 7:45pm as the pilot was approaching the Mason County Airport.  The pilot reported a green laser pointing at the cockpit as he approached the airport from the northeast.  He sent the GPS coordinates to air traffic controllers in Minneapolis and the Mason County Sheriff searched the area, but found nothing at the spot which was about eight miles northeast of the airport, which is in Pere Marquette Township.

The plane was hauling mail.  The FAA is also investigating the incident.
