Finding James his Forever Home

Posted

WYOMING, Mich. – We continue our Forever Homes series where FOX 17 features kids under the age of 18 who are living in the state’s foster care system and need adoptive homes.

We would like to introduce you to James, 14, a thoughtful high school freshman who is driven.

James has spent the last two years in the foster system and now lives in a group home. He told FOX 17 he has learned some important life lessons there but he is ready to move forward in life with a loving family.

“You have to learn to adapt to certain people,” said James.

He is always conscientious, thinking of others, as FOX 17 witnessed from James shared his game time and his pizza with crews at Craig’s Cruisers in Wyoming on Tuesday.

“Come on, now get yours first and I’ll get mine last,” he told FOX 17 when the pizza was served.

Gaming Tuesday was a fun break from school where James is focused. He said he earns all A’s and B’s in school and loves to read.

“Right now I’m reading 1984,” said James, also citing that Poseidon is his favorite character in Greek Mythology.

James is strongest in English and science, and said he wants to earn his doctorate degree to become a top tier mammalogist. He told FOX 17 that Steve Irwin is his professional inspiration.

“I plan on being a field researcher, so going out studying them,” James said.

Aside from education, James knows what it takes to be successful.

“You have to love your job,” he said.

And he doesn’t shy away from a challenge: he likes to play strategic games like chess and magic cards.

Thinking ahead to his future, James said he just wants loving parents to have as role models.

“Somebody I can trust, and that will hold me accountable even though I don’t want to be,” said James.

James needs a family to help his dreams be realized.

“A good school that offers scholarships,” James said is on his wish list.

If any family would like to learn more about James, or is interested in adopting him, please call his adoption agency,Orchards Children’s Services at 1-(855)-694-7301.
