Whitehall man attacked by girlfriend with fish

WHITEHALL, Mich. — A 61-year-old man is recovering after being attacked with a mounted fish Sunday morning.

It happened around 1:45 a.m. in the 1000 block of Livingston Street in Whitehall.

The Whitehall Police Department said a man was using a mounted sailfish as a model for sketching prior to the alleged attack.

Police said the man’s 58-year-old girlfriend became angry and moved the fish. The mount had fallen over and broke once she left the room and she thought her boyfriend was responsible for the damage.

The woman then hit the man over the head with the fish and poked him with the nose of the fish, according to police.

The man suffered injuries to his hand.

Police said no arrests were made due to health reasons, but alcohol was a factor.
