Authorities investigate Kalamazoo house fire

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — No one was injured following a house fire Friday evening.

At around 7:20 p.m., Kalamazoo Public Safety said crews responded to a home in the 700 block of West Cedar Street that had been converted into several apartments. Officers discovered a couch on fire on the first floor, along with heavy smoke. The fire was quickly put out and police said a large part of the structure wasn’t harmed.

Thousands of dollars in damage was reported and the investigation continues as to what caused the fire.
