Man sentenced for attack on Portage jogger

PORTAGE, Mich. – A man who pleaded guilty to attempting an assault on a female jogger was sentenced Monday.

Jamal Johnson pleaded guilty in September for grabbing a jogger on the Bicentennial Trail in early August.  The woman was able to fight him off and escape.  Johnson was arrested a short time later.

Johnson was sentenced to six months in jail and three years of probation and probation boot camp. Johnson pleaded guilty to a charge of Unlawful Imprisonment in exchange for charges of Assault & Battery and being a 2nd time Habitual Offender being dropped.
