CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. — The Calhoun County Sheriff says they are investigating two shootings along M66 Wednesday.
One shooting happened at about 4:30pm in Athens. Another shooting was reported during the day in Pennfield Township, but the scene had been “cleaned up” before deputies arrived.
Investigators say they don’t know if the recent shootings are connected with other shootings in July and August along I-94 and I-69. Those incidents happened between July 29 and Aug. 21 on Interstate 94 between 11 Mile Road and I-69 and on Interstate 69 between M-60 and Jonesville Road in Branch County. No injuries have been reported. On September 1, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office announced they have extended their investigation to include additional four miles east on I-94.
