ANTWERP TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Police made an arrest after two people reported an attempted kidnapping on Tuesday.
It happened just before 4:00 p.m. in the 49,000 block of 24th Street in Antwerp Township.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect allegedly held two people against their will at knife point. The victims claim the suspect allegedly slashed two tires on one of the victims’ vehicles before they were able to escape and call 911.
Authorities arrested a 36-year-old man after an hour long standoff. Police said he was also armed with a knife. One of the deputies sustained minor injuries after being assaulted by the suspect during the arrest.
The case remains under investigation.
