ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich.– A 34-year-old man is in jail after attempting to flee from authorities which ultimately lead to a suspected drunk driving arrest.
Deputies say they attempted to pull over the Allegan County man for running through a stop sign and reckless driving.
That’s when he sped off southbound on the M-40 highway.
The driver then took a sharp turn into a parking lot where he refused to get out of the vehicle.
Eventually deputies were able to get the man out of the car and discovered open cans of alcohol inside.
After taking a breathalyzer test, deputies say the man blew a .22, nearly three times the legal limit and fitting Michigan’s “super drunk” criteria, which can carry harsher penalties.
