MUSKEGON, Mich. -- A security system captured images of three suspects attempting to break into a Muskegon home while four children and their babysitter were inside. A worried mother shared the security footage, hoping somebody would come forward with information.
It's something that Mariayah Hernandez never that would happen to her family.
Hernandez said she bought the security system in the hope that she would never have to use it, but now she says it's the best investment she's ever made.
It all happened Monday night when a concerned family friend called Hernandez with the unsettling news that three people tried to break into her home on the 900 block of W. Forest Avenue.
The footage shows a male knocking on the front door and jiggling the knob. Then, five minutes later, three males show up at the back door and attempt to open it with a card. They also check nearby windows. The suspects flicker a light and soon discover an ADT sticker and notice the security camera. Once they remove their fingerprints from the door, they move the security camera and run.
"I have kids here that’s all. I’m not trying to get anybody in trouble, "says Hernandez. "But at the same time, it was wrong. You crossed the line. It was wrong."
Muskegon Police said they have no one in custody and they're actively working the case.
More than 15,000 people have viewed the camera footage.
