Police in Portage search for suspect following alleged Target store robbery

PORTAGE, Mich. — Police are searching for a suspect after an alleged retail fraud at a Target store on Monday.

It happened around 4:15 p.m. in the 6800 block of South Westnedge in Portage.  According to the Portage Department of Public Safety, authorities responded to a retail fraud at the store. Once they arrived an officer saw the suspect leaving the parking lot in a green Chevrolet Trailblazer. Officials also said the suspect was driving recklessly and struck at least one vehicle before they got away.

An employee with Target said the suspect had an adult female, children and an infant with him.

He is described as a black male, 20-35 years old, 5’10” – 6’1”, and 180-210 lbs.  Police also believe the suspect has ties to the Kalamazoo or Battle Creek communities.
