WEST MICHIGAN– The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality has determined Sunday to be an action day for elevated levels of ozone. Pollutants are expected to be unhealthy for sensitive groups.

People are asked to avoid activities which lead to ozone formation, like using gas powered lawn mowers, topping off your vehicle and using charcoal lighter fluid.

Active children and adults are urged to limit outdoor activities. Individuals with respiratory disease, like asthma, should take extra caution.

The following counties are included in this alert:

  • Allegan
  • Kent
  • Mason
  • Muskegon
  • Oceana
  • Ottawa
