LAKE MICHIGAN – Dangerous swimming conditions are expected Thursday along the Lake Michigan shoreline due to high waves and strong currents.
The National Weather Service has issued a beach hazards statement which run through the day into late Thursday night from South Haven all the way to Manistee.
Beaches with particularly dangerous conditions Thursday include South Beach in South Haven, Grand Haven State Park and Pere Marquette Park in Muskegon.
Forecasters say northwest winds will increase to 20 to 25 knots and waves will build to three to five feet high. The most hazardous conditions will be on the south side of piers and break walls. Structural currents, longshore currents and rip currents are all possible.
