Spectrum Health hosts Fall sports concussion clinic

Posted

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--  Dr. Matt Axtman of Spectrum says when seeing a patient for a potential concussion, it's important to know the patient's complete medical record.  "We get a thorough history because we want to know if there is a history of concussions.  Is there a history of ADHD or migraines," said Axtman.  According to recent research, patients with a history of migraines or ADHD tend to suffer from concussion symptoms longer than other patients.

Axtman, a Doctor of Osteopathy with Spectrum Health is part of the team that hosts a Sports Concussion Clinic every Tuesday during the Fall.   The clinic is from 1pm-5pm at 2750 East Beltline Avenue NE in Grand Rapids.  To make an appointment, call 616-267-7600.
