GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - 66 Grand Valley students are competing Wednesday in the school's 25th annual Wooden Shoe Regatta.
Every summer, junior-level mechanical engineering students design and build small sailboats from a 2" x 4" x 10" block of basswood.  They race their 1/12 scale model sailboats in a 12-foot towing tank and wind tunnel.

The races are in room 102 of the Keller Engineering Labs on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus.
