GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. –  Family members of residents at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans can once again dine together after the home was approved for a food service license last week.

The home made the announcement Monday that they had been inspected by the Kent County Health Department last Friday and were approved. Family members, volunteers and other guests can now go through the cafeteria’s food line and purchase meals to eat with residents of the home.

The Michigan Veterans Facilities Board of Managers voted unanimously in June to obtain the license.  The home previously had a non-expiring license which limited the cafeteria food service to inpatient members only.  Volunteers and family members could bring food in to eat with residents, but could not purchase food in the dining room.
