PLAINFIELD TWP., Mich. - If you've driven on 10 Mile Road off US-131 any weekend this summer, you've probably noticed the extra traffic.
The Art Van Sports Complex opened nearly one year ago and is bringing in the traffic and an economic boom.
There are 18 teams competing at the complex this week and that is a smaller tournament. These 18 teams means about 1,000 extra visitors around town for the next five days. More than 50% of the baseball and softball teams that have played at the complex come from out of town.
The $7 million, privately funded facility is hosting a national championship yet this summer, which includes teams from Canada and Vietnam.
