Police respond to suspicious situation at Medawar Jewelers

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Several police crews responded to a suspicious situation at Paul Medawar's Fine Jewelry, 4518 Plainfiled Ave. NE.

According to the Kent County Sheriff's Department, the incident was reported at 2:25 p.m.  They are referring to the situation as "suspicious."

The store posted the following statement on their Facebook page:

We’d like to thank everybody for their concern! For all wondering, we asked our friends at the Kent County Sheriff Department to check in on us after some suspicious activity. Contrary to media reports, there was no attempted robbery. See you all tomorrow!

The store has been robbed before and police responded as they have in past robberies.  The most recent time was in January.

No weapons were seen and no merchandise was taken. No one was hurt.
