BYRON CENTER, Mich. – For the first time in his super-human athletic career, Jim Dreyer has had to postpone an event due to injury.
Dreyer, who has swum across all of the Great Lakes among other “feats of strength” has postponed his event for the 4th of July in the Straits of Mackinac. He was planning to swim pulling a barge, carrying a new Lincoln MKC 3.58 miles across the straits to Mackinac Island. The total weight of the barge was to be 16.5 tons.
According to Event Marketing Enterprises of Byron Center, Dreyer hurt his shoulder clearing trees for parking for a clinic at “Shark’s Haven”, his Lake Michigan beach. The clinic is to help other swimmers train for the Labor Day Mighty Mac Swim.
Dreyer’s swim with the barge has been rescheduled for August 15.
