CONSTABLE, NY. — The second New York escaped convict has been shot and arrested by law enforcement on Sunday afternoon.

David Sweat, 35, was located a few miles from the Canada border near Constable, NY.  According to Google maps, the town is about six miles from Malone, NY, where Richard Matt was shot and killed on Friday by U.S. Border Patrol.

Sweat was dressed in full camouflage gear when he was shot in an open field by a New York State Trooper. State Police said that a Sergeant noticed Sweat walking, and he did not appear to be armed.

Sweat was taken to a nearby hospital in Malone to be treated for two gunshot wounds. No officers were injured while taking Sweat into custody. Sweat is said to be conscious.

Neighbors are said to be relieved after more than 1,000 officers surrounded the area with check-points, searching vehicles on Saturday for Sweat.
