SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. — Bystanders rescued a 13-year-old girl and her 10-year-old brother from Lake Michigan Wednesday afternoon, according to South Haven Police.
The girl was attempting to rescue her brother when people saw her clinging to a buoy at South Haven’s South Beach, officials said. The boy had gone underwater.
At least three people helped the children before emergency personnel arrived on the scene, according to a release.
Officials said the boy was blue and unresponsive, but after he was brought back to shore his condition improved. Both children were taken to the hospital.
The South Beach was flying a red flag at the time of the incident, officials said.
