LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Senate has passed a series of House bills that would allow an adoption agency to refuse to participate in an adoption involving a same-sex couple, unmarried couple, or others,if it violates the religious beliefs held by the agency.

House bills 4188, 4189, and 4190 passed the Senate Wednesday.  They would become law if they are signed by Governor Rick Snyder.

The bills also prohibit governments from refusing to provide funding to faith-based agencies even if they objection to certain adoptions.
