ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — An Allegan County teen pleaded guilty to felony murder Monday in connection with the death of his cousin.
Joshua Keyzer also pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to Allegan County Prosecutor Frederick Anderson.
The then-15-year-old Keyzer fatally stabbed his cousin, 21-year-old Kassandra Keyzer, June 25, 2014 at a home in Wayland. Their grandmother, Sharon Keyzer, called 911 after being stabbed in the neck. Anderson said she has since passed away from cancer.
Keyzer was found competent to stand trial last October after undergoing a mental evaluation. As part of the plea deal, he will face between 40 and 60 years in prison, Anderson said. He will be sentenced June 22.
