Ionia detectives investigating possible rape at underage party

IONIA, Mich. — The Ionia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating  a teenager’s rape at an underage alcohol party early Saturday morning.

Ionia County Sheriff Dale Miller told FOX 17 NEWS that detectives from his department are investigating a possible sexual assault at the home of a Michigan State Police employee on Peckins Road in Lyons, which is located just south of M-21 in east-central Ionia County.

A 17-year-old girl reported to detectives later in the day Saturday that she was raped by an acquaintance after having consensual sex with another boy.

Miller said detectives are investigating both the sexual assault and also underage alcohol consumption.

The incident remains under investigation by the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office.
