Gander Mountain manager pepper sprayed during armed robbery

Posted

PORTAGE Mich. — The Portage Department of Public Safety is trying to identify an armed robbery suspect after a manager at Gander Mountain was pepper sprayed and robbed at gunpoint earlier this month.

The incident happened on March 15 around 7:30 a.m. at the store located at 5348 S. Westnedge Avenue.

Investigators say the suspect was armed with a handgun when he forced the manager to give him cash.  The manager was also partially incapacitated during the robbery after being pepper sprayed by the suspect.

The suspect was able to grab cash and leave the store in an unknown direction.

Both Portage Public Safety officers and Gander Mountain are hoping the surveillance images seen here will help supply tips leading to an arrest.

Gander Mountain is also offering at $2,000 reward for information that helps identify the suspect.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Portage Public Safety at 269-329-4567 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
