KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Four students have been arrested after one of them accidentally fired off a gun in the bathroom of Loy Norrix High School Tuesday morning.
According to a press release from Kalamazoo Public Safety, a single shot was fired in one of the boy's bathrooms at roughly 8:45 a.m.
Officials later recovered a small caliber semi-automatic pistol in a student's backpack, according to a release.
Investigators say a sophomore male brought the gun to school and it was in the possession of three other 10th grade students before police located it.
Police say the student fired the gun accidentally and had no intended target.
No injuries were reported during the incident. The school was placed on lockdown from 1 p.m. until roughly 2:24 p.m. while Public Safety officers investigated the incident.
All four students are being held at the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home. They've been suspended from the school and face mandatory expulsion, according to district officials.
