Tests: No measles case in Allegan County

Posted

There is no “clinically diagnosed” case of measles in Allegan County after all. That’s according to information released Tuesday afternoon by the Allegan County Health Department.

Last week, a 15-month-old unvaccinated female child was “clinically diagnosed” with Measles. However, after the county got some lab work back from the state, it looks like the child did not, in fact, have Measles. Two of the three lab tests are negative for Measles, and a third test is pending.

“For a case to be confirmed as Measles, we need laboratory confirmation”, Allegan County Medical Director Dr. Richard Tooker said. “These serologic findings suggest measles is not involved in this illness”.

On Monday, the Kent County Health Department also released findings indicating that a possible case of the disease there was not Measles.
