GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- As the temperatures plunge, Mel Trotter is working overtime to help the homeless.
The shelter has issued a severe weather protocol, which means they'll bring in more security,food service and especially more mattresses so people can rest.
The Grand Rapids Police Department is helping out as well.
Over the next few days, they will visit areas where the homeless sleep, to let them know Mel Trotter has room for them.
