COLDWATER,  Mich. --  Leon Johnson of Coldwater is accused of having child porn and using hidden cameras to spy on people.

The Coldwater Police Department arrested Johnson, 49, over the weekend on several charges, including possession of child sexually abusive materials.

Deputy Director of Public Safety Joe Scheid says his department initiated an investigation in November 2013 after receiving information that Johnson placed hidden cameras in an apartment and a witness observed child sexually abusive material on Johnson's computer.

"She had found a couple of cameras in her apartment and was concerned about the devices, and brought it to our attention that may be used for illegal behavior," says Scheid.

Police searched the home and seized a computer and additional evidence.  The Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit assisted with the investigation by examining the seized computer and locating evidence of the charged offenses.

Johnson was arrested on Saturday.  He is facing four counts of possession of child sexually abusive material and three counts of eavesdropping.

Police say Johnson posted bond and was released from jail.  A preliminary exam has been scheduled for March 3.
