MAUI, Hawaii -- A pilot was rescued over the weekend after a harrowing incident about 250 miles northeast of Maui.
The pilot's single engine Cirrus SR-22 ran out of fuel Sunday afternoon, and he was forced to deploy the aircraft’s parachute system and crash-land in the ocean.
According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the pilot was able to climb out of the plane and into a life raft. They were picked up by a nearby cruise ship and are said to be in good condition.
