MUSKEGON, Mich. — On Tuesday afternoon, at the Earnest C. Brooks Correctional Facility, a perimeter patrol employee foiled an attempt to throw contraband over a fence into the prison yard, and was able to get away.
At 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, a prison security car was monitoring the grounds alongside Muskegon Police Department. The Michigan Department of Corrections driver saw someone outside by the prison fence and used his vehicle’s horn to alarm a police officer nearby to make sure he was aware of what was going on.
“We believe it was an attempted introduction of contraband at the Earnest C. Brooks Correctional Facility that was unsuccessful,” MDOC spokesman Chris Gautz said.
The suspect then fled down the Muskeawa Trail pedestrian-bike path.
