Holiday decorations returned after 69-year-old woman vows to give up her Christmas tradition

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.—Christmas decorations taken from 69-year-old Carol Harig's lawn in Kent County had her vowing to discontinue her 44-year tradition of turning her home into a winter wonderland.

Two items were stolen Friday night: a 12-foot reindeer and a Holiday duck. She then proceeded to take all her other Christmas decorations down to prevent future thefts.

However, Sunday morning all her decorations were returned after a neighbor found the decorations lying on another neighbor’s front lawn during his morning jog.

“It restores my faith in humanity it really does,” said Harig.

Harig has her Christmas spirit back when her 12-foot deflated reindeer and holiday duck turned up Sunday morning.

“I was just shocked because I never thought in the world that anybody would drop the things off,” said Harig.

Harig says that she won’t give up her tradition.

“Oh, next year, I am going to have a bigger and better display,” she said.
