GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.– Tuesday marks the beginning of what AAA says will be the busiest holiday travel season since they’ve started keeping records.

Nationally, AAAexpects more than 98.5 million Americans will hit the road for the holidays, the highest holiday growth rate since 2009.

Compared locally, AAA expects three million Michiganders, or more than 91 percent, to travel for the holidays. That’s the highest growth rate in more than a decade.

With gas prices at their lowest in five years, it’s certainly helping boost those numbers. Find the lowest gas prices in your area by clicking here.
