DETROIT, Mich. — A man in a Santa costume is in custody, after police say he shot two people…and it may have started started as an argument over a ‘Mrs. Claus.’

The incident happened early Sunday morning at a gas station in Detroit.  According to The Detroit News, the man dressed as Santa was involved in an argument and shoving match with two other men about a woman.  Santa thought they were trying to get weapons from a vehicle, so he pulled out his own gun and started shooting.

One victim was hit in the chest, and the other suffered a gunshot wound to the hand.  Both are expected to be okay.

Two off-duty officers were able to chase down the suspect, ending the situation a few blocks from the scene.

The Kottonmouth Kings, a hip-hop/punk rock group, were performing at the nearby Saint Andrew’s Hall in Detroit that night, and happened to witness the suspect being taken into custody.  They posted a photo on their Facebook page, with the status, “Crazy Santa goes on shooting spree outside Big Ballers Event in Detroit-Our prayers are with victims KMK.”

The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday.
