BANGOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A man is facing charges in Van Buren County after deputies say he tried to steal a boat.
The incident started Saturday morning when a man called 911 saying he was watching a truck pull out of his driveway with his boat and trailer attached.
The caller also said he was following the person who took the boat. After a short pursuit, the suspect’s vehicle crashed, causing the boat and trailer to overturn.
The driver of the truck tried running but was caught by deputies. He’s now facing charges for larceny and driving with a suspended license.
The damage to the boat and trailer is estimated to be about $10,000.
