One dead after cars burst into flames

TWIN LAKES, Mich. -- In Muskegon County one person is dead, another in critical condition, after a crash at the intersection of M-120 and 5th Street around 5 p.m. Saturday.

Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department believes this could be a weather-related crash. The Sheriff’s Department is still investigating but says the accident was likely caused by slippery roads.

A deputy that was nearby at another car accident heard the crash. He called it in and saw the cars go up in flames shortly after the initial crash.

“Based on witness accounts, the road conditions probably played the biggest factor,” said Sheriff Dean Roesler. "Unfortunately, we goT caught in what was originally a little drizzly rain, and eventually the temperature dipped and caused the rain to freeze on the roads in the northern area."

Deputies are not yet identifying the driver who was killed as of Saturday night.
