ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich.– Deputies and Correctional officers from Allegan County Sheriff’s Department say the jail is up and running now after successfully transferring all of their inmates to a new complex Friday night.
Staff managed to transport all 166 inmates safely in just 3 1/2 hours from 10:30 pm to around 2 am this morning. The new jail complex is located on River Street, and will replace The Walnut Street facility which has been open since 1961.
